Theme of the Basel Seminar in 2002

Regarding the theme, we made this initial reflexions:

WHY DO WE SERVE OTHERS?

Helping and serving is a natural and human activity. Even animals protect each other and without caring humans would not survive.
But in human beings there exist other natural forces as well such as greed, aggressions and violence that overcome caring attitudes and become destructive. Therefore religions and faiths have developed ethical principals of care.
In this Seminar we want to learn more about the ethics of caring in some of the world religions and faiths. We want to listen to each other and to enter into an interfaith dia-logue.
The aim is to understand more about spiritual care in different cultures and faiths and to deliver care while being more grounded in our own religious believes.
