Last activities of the Littleton United Church youth group:
-
Summer of 1998
- 16 youth and 4 adults went to the state of Washington to work
on a Native American Reservation. We worked for 6 days on improving homes
that were in desperate need. We repaired and put on new roofs, painted, built
decks and wheelchair ramps, and put up drywall in homes. Each evening we had
some time together for fellowship. We drove there in our vans, 23 hours one
way. On the way we sleep on the floor in other churches.
- Summer of 1997
- 17 youth and 3 adults went to Nogalas, Mexico to work with
Habitat for Humanity and to work with some homeless teenagers. We worked on
two different homes. We dug the foundations, painted, and put up walls. Our
work with the teenagers was more of just building relationships and having
fun. We taught them how to play games and how important school was. We
learned a great deal about the issues that surround the border region between
our two countries.
- Summer of 1996
- 20 youth and 4 adults went to Nashville, Tennessee. their
we worked with another church to help restore churches in need or repair. We
slept on the floor at the church. We would work all day and have fellowship
in the evening.
